...10% off knitting kits until March 10 |
|
Any Kit, yarn or book on Shopify gets 10% off if ordered by March 10. Don't let the grass grow under your feet - make hay while the sun shines - that's it - and get along to Signatur Shopify or www.sigknit.com for your special project. |
Southern Highlands tree change |
To make sure the grass grows under our feet we've made a 7 acre tree change to Exeter!
Nestled in a shallow valley that's a flightpath for magnificent Black Cockatoos, our un-named hideaway has a tiny creek that attracts an amazing froggy soundtrack. If you follow me on Instagram you may have already heard them!
We'll start with a small shack, plenty of tree/shrub planting, and restoration of the creek and its banks. You can follow on Instagram SignaturHandknits |
A design that just grew on me |
Below right is a sneak-peak sample of my new design. I was going to call it Tree Change, but decided the design has fruit trees on it. So, Harvest Jacket it is. I am still jiggling the stitches around, and am amidst pattern placement.
|
It'll be a few years before we move from the Signatur Studio to Exeter (: it's about 2 hours drive south of Sydney. Meantime, I'm getting plenty of knitting done as we travel back and forth (unless I'm driving).
I've now finished all the single colour pieces and am working on an Intarsia sleeve.
I'm not sure I'll manage the back - 163sts - in the car! |

I have to say a very big thank you to everyone, both online and when we meet at events for allowing me to take the exceptional journey i am on. Brett, my husband, is always there to lend a hand, and where would I be without my fabulous team of exceptional knitters. You are and have always been the world's best! |
Your knitter is on your label... |
If you have bought a ready made garment (instead of a kit) you will find a label sewn into the side seam with my contact details plus the hand written name of the knitter who created the garment. I have several knitters who've been knitting for me for at least 30 years. That's pretty amazing in any endeavour. The lovely Joyce is now 97 years old and stiil a fabulous knitter! Surely that's evidence of the therapeutic benefits of hand craft! |
It looks like my popular knitted sign will become a garment. Watch this space! |

I often see the sparkle of acknowledgement in the eyes of rural visitors when they read my sweater/sign at shows. It's like a gentle recognition that the sheep and wool that are the folklore and lifeblood of their community derive from such a pure connection to nature and bring so much love and joy. City folk who appreciate craft and natural products equally enjoy the simplicity of a formula that speaks volumes about what nature can deliver. |
Mitres continue to be inspiring: check out my YouTube video to see how simple they really are! |
