Daily images, ideas & inspiration on Insta & Facebook
June and July was a million miles a hour with back to back Canberra & Sydney shows then suddenly I was 'on the lamb' to the Bendigo Sheep Show. All shows were fantastic! I have the world's best customers - thank you so much. Knitting kit sales went through the roof as Jack Frost annointed our wintry ground. While there are always perennial kit favourites, I'm so happy with how well received my new HARVEST design has been: thank you again!

Knitting Classes in March 2025
at Grampians Texture

It's great to be invited back to teach at Australia's annual Halls Gap Grampians Texture 25. The 2025 schedule is now online with class and accommodation packages for an overwhelming range of classes from 19 amazing Australian and overseas artists.

March 15th to 20th, 2025

For 15 years I travelled to America teaching in yarn stores & on retreats, then via Zoom from my Sydney Studio. Returning to Grampians Texture reconnects us all with why we craft. As a former teacher & student with my mum & friends, I can't wait to be back.

The Grampians Texture 25 format is a two day weekend class Sat 15th & Sun 16th the 2, or a 4 day midweek class from Monday 17th to Thursday 20th of March. The Grampians Texture website all the class bookings and accommodation info for Halls Gap village that you'll need.  Full class details here.

My new website is slowly getting populated, click on the Fan & Cable images below to see more on the new website.
Fan & Cable Cardigan

The Fan pattern is a favourite of mine and yours too: classic styling with a twist! You can see (below right and centre) the hemline splits where each side is edged with a cable; these come together to create the Crab Claw Cable.

The Blue Jacket is a little different to standard. The neck band is slightly deeper so it turns back nicely. This particular garment arrived in the studio the day before the photoshoot and I could see the sleeve wouldn't be long enough for Meg, so I simply added a cuff and a button.

These are two new colours: Fleck Mustard & Fleck Denim
The Fan and Cable Swagger

What's the difference between the Fan & Cable Swingcoat style left and the Fan & Cable Swagger below?

Well, the swingcoat is full from the shoulder, whilst the centre shot below of the Swagger shows the high-waisted fit, creating a cardigan fit over the shoulders, with fullness in the skirt of the swagger.
The same shaping technique is applied to both styles: decreases are worked into the patterns of panels between the cables. The Fan pattern remains consistent, whilst the number of stitches between the Fan and the Cable decrease from hem to shoulder.

The Fan & Cable Swagger has a shawl collar which is knitted as one with each front, so there's very little finishing once the pieces are knitted. There are five chest sizes: petite to XXL with a round neck option and a longer length option.

March 2025 knitting Classes at Grampians Texture 25 Halls Gap
I am seeing a huge growth in knitting kit sales, from simple pieces like the Penny Jacket above, right up to Frida Jacket, and with all age groups. YouTube is an amazing tool for techniques, Ravelry for patterns and there are individual designers creating inspiring patterns and amazing indi dyes. Hats, Wraps, tea cosies and toys are fantastic skill building projects: stitch recongintion, row counting, decreasing and increasing are common to many small projects and they carry through to garments.
So, in addition to techniques, my 2 classes also include tips & tricks on making garments fit, but additionally how to judge the knitting on the needles for chest, hip & sleeve length.
I open these classes to all skill levels as every knitter can achieve brilliant instead of 'just satisfactory' garments - even those brave enough to knit their first garment will start their world with a much more open mind to 'knitting to fit'.
